We’re Sweet Ade, a six piece Melbourne based jazz band with an unusual, colourful range of instruments and a broad, diverse repertoire. Between us we play recorders, reeds (soprano and tenor saxophones, clarinet), guitar, mandolin, drums, washboard, ukulele, bass guitar and vocals. Our music ranges from familiar jazz standards to early Australian jazz, as well as a miscellany of tunes from jazz and elsewhere, all interpreted in our idiosyncratic, cheerful and energetic style. We released our first CD in 2016, entitled Sweet Ade: Celebrating Ade Monsbourgh and the Recorder. We’ve had very positive feedback and considerable radio airplay, including the prestigious Jim McLeod’s Jazz on Saturday (PBS FM) and ABC’s Jazz Track. We’re available for a wide range of events and settings including: • weddings • corporate events • functions • parties • concert style shows including house concerts • festivals • community events • aged care facilities • wineries • restaurants • indoor and outdoor venues • all age groups from children to mature age adults We’re highly experienced in varying our style and atmosphere depending on the specific needs of an event, such as: • Laid back semi-acoustic background music to create a relaxed ambience • Music to create a lively, happy, upbeat atmosphere • Music that’s not too loud to drown out conversations • Interesting tunes to listen to • Music to get all age groups up onto the dance floor • Tunes with special appeal for children • Singalongs • Special requests

Sweet Ade were just the ticket for our Sunday afternoon International Women's Day Luncheon! We were thrilled with the band's repertoire and diversity of music. The afternoon was an smorgasbord of delightful melodies, jazz favourites and toe tapping tunes that got us off our seats, dancing to the beat. Marion and the band entertained us with enthusiasm and created a beaut atmosphere of song and dance. Thanks to Sweet Ade, our luncheon was a great success and enjoyable celebration of IWD for 2018. We certainly Pressed for Progress with the enjoyment of such a great musical ensemble. We happily recommend Sweet Ade for anyone who wishes to enjoy a great music experience.

For nearly twenty years the Eltham Rural Group has held its Annual Jazz Day. For the third year in a row guests will arrive to the enchanting music of Sweet Ade. Marion Lustig and her band are passionate about their music. Their energy and enthusiasm is infectious. Last year during lunch Sweet Ade’s background music created a lively, happy atmosophere: foot tapping became dancing; humming to popular tunes became singing. During coffee Sweet Ade entertained us with their amazing jazz renditions. We sat enthralled wishing it would never end. Thank you Marion et al. We certainly recommend you to anyone who wishes to have a different jazz experience”. We look forward to your music next month. Judith Paynter, President, Eltham Rural Group Inc. (October 2016)

In one word - stupendous! They came in, they played, they jazzed the room perfectly to the theme of our night and we danced! Our theme was a Mad Catters Winter Soiree (a take on Alice in Wonderland but for a cat rescue group) and so we were looking for something a little different. Quirky, classy, clean and loads of fun, I would thoroughly recommend Sweet Ade Jazz. The music really made the evening and every one was seen bopping a long! We would definitely book them again.

The first time we heard Sweet Ade was at an outdoor lunch function for over 200 and then they played at our mid winter party of about 80. They were able to play for each event with great connection. At the evening dinner, it was always possible to have an easy conversation. It was also exciting on the dance floor. Quite an achievement. In the all evening performance they covered a spectrum of pieces from jazz, classic dance, traditional to modern with some pop and oldies thrown in for good measure. Just.suited our family gathering of 7 to 80 year olds. There was so much support for them amongst our friends, that they have hired them for a community function. The old and the young enthralled with the Teddy Bears Picnic.
