A nurse by profession, Marlon’s love affair with photography started out as a leisure pursuit. When his friend Mae allowed him to borrow her DLSR camera back in November 2010, it was like love at first sight (or should we say “touch”) for Marlon. He took picture after picture, finding himself constantly amazed at how photos could convey such beauty and emotion, having a language all on their own. Numerous snapshots later, Marlon could still not satisfy his insatiable thirst for learning the language of the camera lens. He sought to learn from books, from online tutorials, as well as from fellow photographers. Finally investing in his own Nikon d90 and later on upgrading to a Nikon d7000 in 2012, Marlon continued to tell stories with his work, eventually landing posts in two wedding studios, where he was able to further hone his craft while enjoying every minute of it. He has since then moved on to see the world from behind the lens of his Nikon d610. Having grown-up in the Philippines, where seas and mountains collide, Marlon was never at a loss for beautiful landscapes to immortalize. Along with some wide-ranging street photography, his portfolio is also composed of portraits of friends and family who have volunteered to build his artwork. Hong Kong, Australia, and the Philippines served predominantly as his favorite backdrops, aiming to capture moments that would otherwise have been lost. Being a true romantic and specializing in portraiture, Marlon enjoys doing wedding photography and engagement shoots (prenups) the most. He is also a commercial photographer who now calls Melbourne his home.
