As the Curator at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery I had the pleasure of working with Asher in 2019/20, as he developed the work featured in his solo exhibition 'duality'. This thought provoking, stunning exhibition excited our visitors. Unique in his approach, Asher knows how to draw out the authentic story in each and every one of his subjects. Asher Milgate is an incredibly talented artist and photographer and he is immensely popular and highly respected among his peers. I first met Asher through Indigenous artists that I represent in my art gallery, Art Atrium, as Asher had worked with them over the years. He was also highly recommended to me as an artist by Sandy Edwards when she curated an exhibition featuring Asher Milgate. We started representing Asher in 2019 and he had participated in two group exhibitions in our gallery and we have also arranged for him to have a solo exhibition at Adelaide Perry Gallery at PLC Croydon later this year. We are fortunate to have Asher as a treasured member of our family of artists.

Asher is a photographic artist. He not only sees his world but he feels it and is able to capture it through the lens of a camera. He is a man of heart and he uses his artistry to challenge and enrich the world. His exhibition, Survivors, held in Dubbo, captured the essence of aboriginal people,and I can vouch, that it was life changing. I have followed Asher over the years and I never cease to be amazed at how Asher can take the ordinary and make it a work of art. I also the proud owner of a beautiful photograph which graces my foyer from his Water exhibition.
