Wedding News > Body sculpting for your wedding

1 May 2008

Wedding preparation exercise regimes are very popular, but you have to do them right if you want results. Careful planning and realistic goals are necessary to avoid giving up entirely or burning out from too much effort. Keep in mind a few things to increase the chance that your wedding exercise plans will succeed.

Don't fit yourself to the fashion

If you think that it's necessary to change your body image to fit a particular wedding dress, then you probably aren't used to regular exercise and may not know what effect it will have on your body. Not every exercise and diet plan gives you the same results, so it would be best of your goals centred on health and confidence reasons rather than fashion ones. You will also want to reach your target fitness and body shape well in advance of the wedding so you can either choose a wedding dress for your new shape or have an existing one altered.

Plan beforehand

You'll need a schedule that you can stick to and some friends to exercise with. If your bridesmaids are intending to start an exercise regime before your wedding it would be a good idea to just have all of them get in on a health kick with you. If you can convince the entire bridal party to join you, then you can even use it as a bonding experience. Adding a social aspect to exercise makes you feel responsible to more than just yourself and helps to distract you from the negative aspects of exercising through shared experience.

Stage changes in diet carefully

Dietary changes can wreak havoc with your moods, possibly putting you under even more stress when planning your wedding. Changing your eating habits through a measured process in consultation with a dietician should lead to optimal results. Once you have reached your healthier eating habits, you will almost certainly feel better than before, but a sudden shock to the system will likely just lead to your rebellion against the diet.
